Join us for a discussion of "River of Doubt" by Candice Millard.  At once an incredible adventure narrative and a penetrating biographical portrait, "The River of Doubt" is the true story of Theodore Roosevelt's harrowing exploration of the Amazon, one of the most dangerous rivers on Earth.

The book we've chosen for January is Wesley the Owl, by Stacey O'Brien, a love story  that begins when O'Brien adopts an injured baby barn owl and embarks on a relationship that will last almost two decades. O'Brien has written a heart-felt account of their complex emotional bond, her startling discoveries about barn owl behavior, intelligence, communication skills, and emotions. This book is at once playful and informative, brimful of anecdotes (and photographs) showing us Wesley's capacity to reason and communicate, to offer enduring love and loyalty. Don't miss it.
